A group of 42 delegates from Poland is visiting Northern Nevada as a follow-up to Gov. Brian Sandoval’s European trade mission during the summer.

The delegation, made up of business leaders and government officials from Poland, are being hosted by the Northern Nevada Development Authority (NNDA). The group will be touring Northern Nevada and exploring opportunities for expansion into the West Coast.

Several regions in Poland are growing similar to Northern Nevada, specifically in the areas of medical technology, science and technology research, advanced manufacturing and unmanned systems. Several companies in Poland are looking to establish a presence in the United States and are exploring the opportunities Northern Nevada has to offer, NNDA said in a press release.

According to NNDA, Nevada is an ideal location for European companies to locate their United States operations because of the favorable business climate, lower start-up costs and a lower cost of living than California.

“We’re excited a delegation is coming from Poland to see what Northern Nevada has to offer,” said Robert Hooper, executive director of NNDA. “This is the second time this year NNDA has hosted a delegation from Poland. Polish companies are interested in the Sierra Region because of the economic similarities to their country. While it will take time, we are hopeful several Polish companies will establish their United States Operation here in Northern Nevada.”

The Delegation includes Aleksander Czechowski, Marta Smulkowska, and Vice Marshal Arkadiusz Bratkowski with the Marshal’s Office of the Lubelskie Voivodeship, Miroslaw Jablonski from the Medical University of Lublin, Hubert Debski from the Technical University of Lublin, and Ryszard Debicki from the University Marii Curie-Sklodowska. The delegation also includes company representatives from target industries such as manufacturing, information technology, drone technology, and distribution. Also attending is one of Europe’s market leaders in the development, marketing and distribution of high quality aluminum systems.

While in Northern Nevada, the delegation will be visiting several local manufacturers including CGI Inc. and Polam Precision Machining Inc. and also will be touring the Adams Hub for Innovation.
