To say thanks isn’t enough

Watson here. It’s that time of the year again and my mom is in the kitchen getting ready for our little family to come for Thanksgiving. I really love her homemade rolls and gravy. The best thing about Thanksgiving is having my boy here. He is absolutely crazy about me! I get to sleep on the bed. Shh ... don’t tell the mom.

As I’ve told you before I am a proud graduate of CAPS. Yes, I got a second chance to be the dog of my family’s dream. Who knows why my first family didn’t like me, but I’m glad because I now have a family who thinks I’m great.

Sometimes people forget how important it is to include pets into their life. I keep my dad and mom on a strict exercise program because we walk every day. I help with watching their weight because I eat all the vegetables my dad doesn’t like (don’t mention this to the mom) and I adore dessert. I’m a regular fitness trainer.

I want you to know that I love CAPS and everyone who strives to make life better for those of us who are abandoned, misunderstood or rejected. It sounds corny, but we need love and really want to be accepted and understood. I have met so many friends at the dog park who are rescues. Sometimes we talk about rescuing and it seems we rescued our moms and dads too. I know a lot of the folks feel rescued by their animals.

Because it is Thanksgiving I hope you will find it in your heart to remember the furry buddies who have been important in your life. My mom and dad keep pictures of Baby and Troutie who have long ago gone over the Rainbow Bridge. They are so thankful that their lives were touched by these special friends.

Thanksgiving is the one time of the year we have to be grateful and thankful for the tender mercies our life provides. It is with joy and gratefulness that I thank CAPS and everyone who advocates for us.

XOXO Watson

WHO’S WHO AT CAPS?

Our dedicated dog walkers are the who’s who this week. Did you know that dog walking can lower your chances of a heart attack? Not only that but you will gain friendships that will endure a lifetime. We would love to have you join our all-volunteer force of “Pup Pals.” Call Rita Hand at CAPS, and she will assist you in becoming a pal-for-life. The number is 775-423-7500. Tell her you want to be a Pup-Pal walker.

WHO’S new AT CAPS’ zoo?

Do you love playing checkers? Don’t delay in coming to meet our very own Checkers. She is the beautiful momma of two male and two female kittens. Checkers and her kittens are gorgeous domestic short hair tuxedos. You will love our beautiful family. Stop by today for a visit and play with checkers.

We have five adorable puppies and playful kitties ready for new homes. Policy, however, prohibits adopting out puppies or kittens under the age of six months to a home with children under five years of age. This is to protect both the children and the animal.
