Law enforcement officials nabbed a Churchill County High School student for making threats on Thursday by using a telephone application (app).
Fallon Police Department Capt. Vern Ulrich said the Churchill County Sheriff’s Office and FPD worked together to find the individual making the threats and posting them online. According to Ulrich, the juvenile’s threats centered on an event to occur at the high school on Tuesday. Ulrich said the threats were posted on the online application, “After School.”
“This case involved a lot of detailed investigation,” Ulrich said, “and analysis of electronic media.”
Detectives from both agencies conducted a joint investigation into the threats and through an online analysis they were able identify the responsible juvenile suspect.
“We knew in less than 24 hours who the person was,” Ulrich said of the perpetrator.
Ulrich said charges will be filed against the juvenile for threats made to the school. At this time, he said there is no credible information regarding a threat to the school next week.
According to its website, “After School was designed to give high school kids a place to publish thoughts without a fear that a parent or relative will see the content.
