Fallon woman receives suspended sentence

The following cases were heard Tuesday in Tenth Judicial District Court.

A Fallon woman received a suspended sentence on one count of trying to conceal methamphetamine, a gross misdemeanor, on May 9, 2015.

Monique Nicole Routt pleaded guilty in May. The count carried a sentence of 364 days in the county jail and a fine of no more than $2,000.

Routt’s attorney, John Oakes, had argued on her behalf.

“The disease of addiction is very strong,” he said. “She holds the key to her future in her hands and also in your hands.”

Routt told the court she did not want to go to prison and leave her children.

Judge Thomas Stockard gave her three years probation, and Routt must complete the Western Regional Drug Court program.

In other court news

Richard Lessick pleaded guilty to one count of grand larceny of personal goods or property with a value of $650 or more but less than $3,500, a category C felony.

On July 32-Aug. 1, court documents show that Lessick took electrical wiring, stainless steel pipe and another property from a building.

He faces one to five years in prison and a fine not to exceed $10,000. Sentencing is set for October.

Cade Warkentin pleaded guilty to one count of attempt to commit injury to property $5,500 or more, a category D felony or gross misdemeanor.

On May 15, Warkentin, according to court documents, attempted to cause more than $5,000 in damage to a 2013 Chevrolet Cruz belonging to Avis Rental.

For a felony, he faces one to four years in prison and a fine not to exceed $5,000. A gross misdemeanor carries a sentence of 364 days in the county jail and a fine not to exceed $2,000.

Sentencing is set for December.

Karl Steven Baumgras pleaded guilty on one county of preventing or dissuading a victim, person acting on behalf of victim or witness from reporting a crime, commencing prosecution or causing arrest a category D felony.

According to court documents, Baumgras prevented his wife, Brenda Baumgras, from calling 911 by removing the cellphone from her hand.

He faces a sentence of one to four years and a fine not to exceed $5,000. Sentencing is set for December.

Jeffrey Dean Sims had his probation reinstated, but Stockard ordered him to Drug Court this month.

Robin Alice Harrison violated probation according to court testimony and had her probation revoked.

She must serve a one to three year sentence in the Nevada State Prison.

Harrison had pleaded guilty to attempted burglary.

Jessica Jeanne Nunes violated her probation but she will remain in custody until she has a mental health evaluation. The court may look at a mental health court program for her.

He had pleaded guilty to attempt possessive stun gun device by an ex-felon.
