Greenwave cross country on the rise

Greenwave cross country is continuing to rise through the ranks in their team victories, though their individual success is nothing to sneer at as well.

The Churchill County Boys Cross Country team finished eighth in the Big School Division beating teams such schools as Carson, Wooster, Truckee and Lowry.

The boys also finished first in the Small School Division, receiving the First Place Small School Division award in the Small School Division at the Reed Invitational Meet at Shadow Mountain Friday.

The Shadow Mountain course is one of the more difficult courses in Northern Nevada due to a series of switch backs which runners have to climb during the race.

In the individual slots, Tristen Thomson finished ninth overall in the Big School Division, and first in the Small School Division with a time of 17:47 for the 3.1 5K course. Finishing second for the varsity boys team was Devyn Frederick with a time of (19:08), third, Ethan Smith (19:38), fourth, Isaiah Williams (19:51), fifth, Kapili Gleason (19:57), and sixth, Michael Anderson (21:12.) There were 13 high schools attending with a total of 114 runners.

Meanwhile, the junior varsity boys team finished sixth overall in the Big School Division, and first in the Small School Division lead by Justin Cathey with a time of 20:28, second, Terry White (21:06), third, Trae Thomson (21:09), fourth, JR Demillo (21:53), fifth, Dawson Frost (22:56), and sixth, Nick Smith 23:18. There were 11 high school attending with 146 runners.

The girls varsity cross country team was led by Jordyn Rogers with a time of 23:54, Chloe Overlie 24:23, Shelby Hickox (25:22), Amanda Pursley (25:51), Diana Enriquez (25:30), and Jeannie Anderson (26:34).

The Churchill County Cross Country Team will travel to Lowry today.
