Prescribed burns scheduled for Carson Lakes

The Nevada Division of Forestry will be conducting prescribed burns at Carson Lakes, about eight miles south and two miles east of Fallon, Oct. 19-22, weather permitting.

The burns are being conducted in cooperation with the Department of Wildlife.

The burn of 964 acres will remove the growth of cattails and bulrush to improve wildlife habitat for water fowl.

Weather patterns will be monitored for smoke management prior to and during burns. The timing of the burns depends on optimum weather conditions.
