Douglas County man who allegedly shot mother dies at hospital

A man accused of shooting his mother down in the street is dead, according to the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office.

Jarek Kozlowski, 28, died Friday night at Renown Regional Medical Center of respiratory failure.

His death was not related to the gun shot wounds he sustained in a shootout with the two deputies who responded to his Manhattan Way address, said Sheriff’s spokesman Sgt. Pat Brooks.

According to the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office, Jarek was the chief suspect in the shooting death of his mother, 50-year-old Michelle Kozlowski.

The shooting occurred during an argument at the home Michelle shared with her two sons, Jarek and Joseph.
