This year is the 30th year that Nevada Rural Counties Retired Senior Volunteer Program is hosting a Nevada Day Carnival at Mills Park.
Kicking off the festivities is Family Night from 5 to 9 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 30, when all rides are just $1 each, courtesy of Carson-City Toyota Scion.
On Friday, Oct. 30, Saturday, Oct. 31 and Sunday, Nov. 1, the fair opens at noon and includes carnival rides and music as well as food booths and opportunities for holiday shopping with great craft vendors. All day ride wristbands are $30, but visit the RSVP booth at Mills Park for a $5 off coupon.
All-day wristbands for $20 are available until noon on Oct. 29 at Carson-City Toyota Scion, 2590 S. Carson St.
The “Days of Service” event will feature United Blood Service Blood Drive from 1 to 5 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 31. One pint of blood can be used to save three people. Walk-ins are welcome.
From 1 to 3 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 1, the Nevada Humane Society will offer free identification chips. Owners must take their pets directly to the tent and return back to their vehicle after receiving their identification chips. Animals are not allowed in Mills Park. Cats must be in carriers and dogs must be on leash. Pet owners are asked to not leave their pets unattended in cars.
A list of all our “Days of Service” participants is available on the RSVP website and includes a FISH canned food drive and many other service organizations. A disc jockey will be at the event on Saturday and Sunday, as well as a barbershop choir who will perform at 3 p.m. Sunday.
All proceeds assist seniors to help them remain independent and in their own homes with dignity. For more information about the event, contact RSVP Special Events Coordinator Anita Moreno at 775-687-4680, ext. 110, or go to www.nevadaruralsrsvp.org.
