Carson City Assemblyman P.K. O’Neill Wednesday reaffirmed what he told the Nevada Appeal in July, that he will seek election to a second term representing District 40.
O’Neill has come under some fire from fellow Republicans for his support of education funding in the 2015 session. He said he voted for the increased education funding and the reforms that go with it because it was in the state’s best interests.
He said he was hired by the voters to “make the tough choices,” and that, if the capital’s voters disagree, it’s up to them to decide whether to return him to office in 2017.
He made similar statements in a July 22 interview in which both O’Neill and Sen. Ben Kieckhefer, who also represents the capital, both defended their votes in support of sweeping changes and increased funding for public education in the state.
