Soroptimist Live Your Dream Scholarship — Local Women, Local Scholarships. Since 1972, the Soroptimist Live Your Dream Award program has disbursed more than $25 million to tens of thousands of women who have overcome poverty, domestic and sexual violence, divorce, the death of a spouse or other life challenges. These funds may be used to offset any cost associated with efforts to attain higher education, including books, childcare and transportation.
Soroptimist Live Your Dream Girls Event — This event will be held on Thursday at 6 p.m. in the Churchill County High School cafeteria. The guest speakers for the event will be Kristina Moore, Nevada Agriculture Teacher of the Year 2015, Dana Endacott, pilot/search and rescue pilot, Sara Parsons, CCHS graduate/elite athlete/international athlete, Susanne Capik, survivor. Tickets are $5 for adults and $2.50 for students. Silent Auction Items — four tickets for $1. There will be a Mystery Box Live Auction. Two short live theatrical skits will be performed by the CCHS students. Funds raised support anti-bullying efforts in Churchill County School District.
Soroptmist Third Annual Quarter Auction — This event will be held on Nov. 14 at the Eagles Hall located at 7977 Reno Highway. Appetizers and non-hosted bar will begin at 6 p.m. Auction will begin at 7 p.m. Dessert will follow the auction. The $25 includes one paddle and ping pong ball, and additional paddles may be purchased at the event. Sponsorships are available. Proceeds will benefit Fallon Youth Club and Anti-bullying efforts in Fallon.
