Nick Marano, Carson City’s city manager, has joined the Nevada State EB-5 Regional Center board of directors, the center announced Wednesday.
The center works to bring together business ventures, both new and expanding, and foreign capital investors. Through a stringent application and investment process, the center said in a news release, it helps qualify foreign investors to obtain U.S. Green Cards for legal immigration. Marano joins a board that includes Carson City Mayor Robert Crowell and is currently headed by Steve Neighbors of the Hop and Mae Adams Foundation.
Lynn Beteag, NVEB-5 administrator, commented on Marano’s earlier election to the board.
“His leadership and professionalism will be of great value to our organization,” Beteag said, “and we look forward to his participation.”
Marano, a colonel who retired in 2012 from the U.S. Marine Corps, before coming to Carson City as the city manager worked on a program designed to teach returning veterans work skills for transition to civilian life. He now mentors at the Adams Hub for innovation in Carson City and is a member of the Western Nevada College Institutional Advisory Council as well.
The NVEB-5 Regional Center characterizes itself as a unique blend of a non-profit and an approved U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services Organization. It’s a non-profit located in Carson City and works with the Northern Nevada Development Authority, which also is based in the capital city.
