The Nevada Department of Transportation will begin a project Monday to replace an aging bridge on Harrigan Road (State Route 115) south of Fallon.
The Harrigan Road bridge crossing the L Line Canal north of Wildes Road was originally constructed in 1923, and the bridge’s deteriorating supports need replacing. NDOT said the bridge will be replaced with a new structure that replicates the look of the historic bridge. Rock will be placed in the canal to help reduce future erosion of the bridge supports, and paving at the Wood Drive frontage road intersection with Harrigan Road will be improved. Approximately 2,300 vehicles travel the stretch of Harrigan Road daily.
Traffic will be detoured via New River Parkway, which travels adjacent to Harrigan Road and connects back to Wildes Road at Rogers Road.
The majority of the $622,000 project by contractor MKD Construction is scheduled to complete by early February 2016, with final paving taking place in the spring. Further project details are available by dialing (775) 888-7000. A video of the bridge’s history is available at http://bit.ly/1LIixtr or via NDOT’s YouTube channel.
