Everyone is welcome to join Nevada National Guard Soldiers and Airmen at 7 a.m. Sunday for the 4th annual Remembrance Run as the Nevada Guard commemorates the lives of the four victims of the Sept. 6, 2011, International House of Pancakes shooting incident in Carson City.
The free, informal, untimed 5-kilometer run/walk is set to start in the parking lot at the Carson City IHOP, 3883 S. Carson St., at 7 a.m. and finish at the Nevada Guard’s Office of the Adjutant General complex at 2460 Fairview Dr.
Reflective running/walking gear is recommended and participants should follow the marked course. Civilian participants should arrange ride back to start line
On Sept. 6, 2011, Nevada Guardsmen Lt. Col. Heath Kelly, 35, Master Sgt. Christian Riege, 38, Sgt. 1st Class Miranda McElhiney, 31, and South Tahoe resident Florence Donovan-Gunderson, 67, were killed during the incident. Two other Soldiers and seven other patrons suffered injuries during the shooting rampage.
