Carson City Access TV viewers who tuned in to see recent public government meetings were unable to do so.
The Board of Supervisors meeting Thursday and the Redevelopment Authority Citizens Committee meeting the evening before, both in the Carson City Community Center’s Sierra Room, couldn’t reach viewers due to a glitch that was still of undetermined origin late Thursday. City Manager Nick Marano mentioned the possibility, though he wasn’t certain, Brewery Arts Center (BAC) equipment or connectivity may have been tampered with or hacked.
He said city government’s overall network wasn’t affected.
Public access television equipment and staff are housed in the lower level of the Performance Hall at 449 W. King St. on the BAC campus.
Adriana Fralick, chief deputy district attorney, said the glitch-induced loss of airing public meetings doesn’t constitute a violation of the Open Meeting law despite announcement on printed agendas they are televised. She said the law accounts for such possible interruptions of service.
