Robbing. Officers Lackey and Woodman arrested Pat Cooley who was charged with robbing Thomas Barbour of seventy dollars in coin at Maguire’s lodging house, corner of D and Mill streets, during an alarm of fire. Cooley made a successful grab of purse and all, and skedaddled. (Virginia Union)

All sorts. A large tarantula has been captured in Reno and will be sent to the Smithsonian Institute. An expert from San Quentin prison has arrived in Carson to arrange for the hanging of Hancock. The joyful bark of coyotes is heard every morning in the eastern part of town, they are on the lookout for chickens.

The Rambler by Wes Davis. To see ourselves as others see us — Lizzy Tish and I decided to take a trip over to Carson City. It is the capital of Nevada and the biggest little capital in the world. We wanted to see everything there was to see there, so we made a beeline for the new governor, Vail Pittman. Then we went off to the prison where the main center of attraction are some footprints of stone-age animals and birds. The stop other was Berger’s Pool Hall where all the men folk of the town gather for a game of pool ...
