Daniel Fenstemacher, 55, was identified Friday as the man shot and killed during an alleged domestic disturbance in the Mark Twain area.
The Storey County Sheriff’s Office arrested William Thomas Lyle, 66, for his alleged involvement in the shooting death of Fenstemacher, who lived at the residence where the shooting occurred.
Storey County said Fenstemacher had been in northern Nevada for several years drifting between Carson City, Washoe, and Storey counties. Storey law enforcement responded at 6:25 p.m. Wednesday to the Mark Twain area on reports of a family dispute.
Deputies found Fenstemacher and another person who had been the victim of blunt force trauma, a press release said.
The injured person was transported to the hospital.
During the investigation, officials believe Lyle and another family member were involved in a physical confrontation with another man, ending with Lyle shooting and killing Fenstemacher.
Lyle is being held at the Storey County Jail on charges of open murder.
