Storey County authorities arrest man in Mark Twain shooting death

The Storey County Sheriff’s Office arrested William Thomas Lyle, 66, for his alleged involvement in the shooting death of another man.

Storey law enforcement responded at 6:25 p.m. Wednesday to the Mark Twain area on reports of a family dispute.

Deputies found one person who was shot to death and another person who had been the victim of blunt force trauma, according to a press release.

The injured person was transported to the hospital.

During the investigation, officials believe Lyle and another family member were involved in a physical confrontation with another man, ending with Lyle shooting and killing the man.

The investigation continues. An autopsy is scheduled for Friday morning. The name of the victim is being withheld until next of kin can be notified.

Lyle is being held at the Storey County Jail on charges of open murder.
