The first 50 families with children to attend Saturday’s fundraiser being held by the Will James Society for the Carson Valley will receive a free illustrated copy of the author’s Newbery Award-winning book, “Smoky the Cowhorse.”
The Cowboy Dreams Event witll be held Saturday, Sept. 19 at Dangberg Home Ranch Historic Park. Kids and adults of all ages are welcome. Activities and seminars begin at 10 a.m. The event is being held to benefit the Will James Society Book Gifting Program.
Free workshops will include roping lessons, art lessons and tack lessons. Free talks and demonstrations will be provided by the Pony Express Association Nevada Division, Douglas County Mounted Posse, History of Nevada’s Wild Horses and local Native Americans.
Live and silent auctions will be held. Horse and Pony rides will be provided by Lorie’s Pony Express and indian tacos and chuckwagon food will be available.
A music and poetry concert will begin at 6 p.m. and will feature star country singer Lacy J. Dalton and Dale Poune, poet and author Harold Miller and All Hat No Cattle.
