Gov. Brian Sandoval has named his former legal counsel to the vacant spot on the Nevada Athletic Commission.
Michon Martin will replace Bill Brady, serving out his term ending October 31, 2016.
Sandoval said Martin is going to be an effective and respected member of that panel which is charged with maintaining “the highest standards of excellence in order to produce a stable and fair environment that provides athletes, fans and stakeholders the utmost confidence.”
The commission oversees events including professional boxing matches and UFC cards.
Martin is currently deputy general counsel for Resorts World Las Vegas and serves as a senior vice president for public affairs for that corporation. During the 2015 Legislature, she coordinated legislative initiatives before lawmakers on behalf of Sandoval.
Before becoming Sandoval’s legal counsel, she was a Chief Deputy Attorney General in the Attorney General’s office.
