Western Nevada College student leaders are serious about preventing sexual assault in our society. To bring awareness to the problem, they will lead a free public Sexual Assault Awareness Walk on Saturday, April 30 at 10 a.m.

The 2.3 mile round-trip walk will begin in the parking lot just south of the Bully’s Restaurant at 3530 N. Carson St, at the intersection of U.S. Highway 395 and West College Parkway.

Andrea Senda, president of the WNC Associated Students of Western Nevada College, said a number of activities on campus highlighted the problem. Students also wore blue jeans on Wednesday in honor Denim Day, observed on behalf of a young woman who was sexually assaulted in Italy in the 1990s and whose perpetrator was not convicted when the judge ruled the woman was wearing tight blue jeans at the time of the attack.

On arrival at the WNC campus, walkers will hear from speakers, enjoy refreshments, and gain information geared towards our community.
