Apr. 12, 1943 - Aug. 15, 2016
John passed on to the kingdom of our Lord the morning of Monday August 15th. A small service will be held at the Northern Nevada Veteran’s Memorial Cemetery in Fernley on Monday August 29th at 2:30pm.
The family doesn’t wish to tell you how this wonderful man died but instead how he lived. Born in Indiana to parents, James and Mary. He was the second son born in a loving family of seven. He was preceded in death by both of his parents and he is survived by all of his siblings, his wife of 43 years, daughter and grandson. After high school he enlisted into the military as his father and oldest brother before him. John saw the world with the Air Force. It was in the Air force that he met his best friend and a life companion Charles B. The stories and adventures the two of them shared together have graced the family with a few tears and many laughs. Uncle Charlie as he is known to the family has been an advocate and guide in the care of John during the last years of his life.
John was a smooth operator with the ladies. He was the most sought after partner in his Square dancing group. He met his wife while dating her sister. Luella and John were married and traveled to Germany together, he doted on her and it was clear to all whom they met that it was a love unconditional.
After they returned to the states and settled into Fallon NV, a place they knew would be best to raise and care for their daughter, John retired from the military at the rank of Master Sergeant. He then worked for a government contractor for 19 years before retiring and opening his own Handyman business. He spent most of his retirement outdoors volunteering and working. Patriot, Adventurer, Brother, Husband, Father and Grandfather. Thank you John for the love and life you have given this family. You will be in our hearts always.
