Carson High has named Blair Roman its new athletic director.
The decision was made Friday morning, and Roman will start on Monday.
The veteran coach replaces Bob Bateman, who retired after 37 years in the school district. Bateman was originally going to stay until Aug. 31, but according to reports, has arranged for a sub to fill out the remainder of the month.
“I’m excited about the opportunity given me by Mrs. (Tasha) Fuson (Carson High principal),” Roman said after Friday’s football scrimmage against Spanish Springs and Fallon. “I look forward to serving coaches and the athletes at Carson High, and working with our community, and to keeping Carson High a top-notch athletic program.”
Roman, who teaches history and physical education at Carson, will now teach three periods of physical education and leave the classroom.
More on Roman being named athletic director will be featured in the Appeal next week.
