The judges are waiting; the spotlight is on; the microphone is hot! It’s time for you to showcase your talent at Carson City’s Got Talent sponsored by Wild Horse Children’s Theater. Carson City’s Got Talent is a talent competition, and showcase for youth in the Northern Nevada area, to be held at the Carson City Community Center on Saturday, October 1. It’s for kids ages 5-18 who can sing, dance, act, play an instrument, or who have some other performing arts talent. The event is a unique opportunity for kids to showcase their performance skills, compete for cash prizes and trophies and entertain an audience.
Carson City’s Got Talent is judged by local industry leaders, artistic professionals and community leaders. Participants will be organized into three divisions: youth (ages 5-8), junior (ages 9-13) and senior (ages 14-18). Judging criteria will be a point system based on 1) Artistry & creativity, 2) Overall Entertainment Value, 3) Technique, and 4) Costume/Appearance. The decisions of the judges are final.
Preliminary competition auditions will be held on Friday, Sept. 23 starting at 4 p.m. at the Brewery Arts Center. Those auditioning for the preliminaries will have one minute to present their talent. At the finals, each act has a time limit of three minutes. Up to 40 acts will be selected to perform at the Carson City’s Got Talent Finals at the Carson City Community Center on Oct. 1. At the finals, First, Second and Third Place prizes will be awarded in each age category along with a special “Judges Award” and “People’s Choice Award” (voted on by the audience). Cash prizes, trophies and other special prizes will be awarded.
There is no fee to for the Preliminary Auditions; however, there is a $25 registration fee per act for contestants moving on to the final competition.
