Dayton fire burns 30 acres, one home

More than 30 acres burned in a brush fire in Dayton on Wednesday afternoon, and threatened nearly 10 homes.

The fire started around 2:20 p.m. Wednesday on Rose Peak Road, behind the Dayton Smith’s. Several crews responded to the fire, including Central Lyon Fire Department and Carson City Fire Department, and were able to put the fire out by 3 p.m.

Eight residences were evacuated and one mobile home was lost in the fire, said Carson Fire Chief Bob Schreihans.

There were no reports of injuries and the cause of the fire was not disclosed. The fire marshal is investigating.
