TOCCATA Tahoe Symphony Orchestra and Chorus will end its 2016 Tahoe Summer MusicFest with a four-concert series beginning at 3 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 11 at the St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in South Reno, 100 Bishop Manogue Drive. The concert series will commemorate the 15th anniversary of the 9/11 tragedy.
The program will open with Brahms’ solemn symphonic-choral masterpiece, A German Requiem, with soloists Joy Strotz, Anna Helwing, and Becky Earl, sopranos; and Kimm Julian, baritone; and includes the Tahoe Symphony Orchestra Chorus.
The concert will conclude with famed violinist Elizabeth Pitcairn performing Eduardo Lalo’s Symphonie Espagnole, Op. 21 on the legendary Red Stradivarius Violin. Maestro James Rawie, TOCCATA’s founder and artistic director, will conduct all performances.
The concert will be repeated at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 14 at Corpus Christi Catholic Church, 3597 N. Sunridge Drive in Carson City, and at 7 p.m. Friday, Sept. 16 at St. Theresa Catholic Church, 1041 Lyons Ave. in South Lake Tahoe. The final performance of the series will be at 4 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 18 at Cornerstone Church, 300 Country Club Drive in Incline Village.
There will be three Soiree Musicale Fundraisers for this concert series — one at 5 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 10 at the home of Toni Neubauer in Incline Village; another at 5 p.m. Tuesday Sept. 13 at the home of John and Diane McCall in Zephyr Cove, and at 5 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 17 at the home of Tom and Carol Burkhart in Montreux. Tickets for all concerts are available at the door or online at www.ToccataTahoe.com. General admission is $30 for adults and $25 for seniors. Youth/students under age 23 with valid ID are $5 for seating 15 minutes prior to concert time, and under 19 is free admission. Preferred/reserved seating is $40 and $15 for youth/students.
