Update: Power restored to virtually all customers

NVEnergy reported an awning blowing into its transmission lines was the cause of the outages throughout Carson City, Gardnerville and Lake Tahoe on Wednesday, cutting off power to thousands of customers. Crews were on scene and removed the structure from the lines and restored power to virtually all customers as of 6:30 p.m. Several stoplights in Carson City also were out.
