PEORIA, Ill. — Newcomers Jordan Caroline and Leland King both had season highs in points, and D.J. Fenner continued his scoring explosion off the bench, as the Nevada Wolf Pack rolled to an easy 91-69 win over Bradley Saturday night at Carver Arena.
The game was part of the Missouri Valley-Mountain West Challenge, and the win gives Nevada a 7-2 record. The Pack is enjoying its best start to a season since the 2006-07 team won seven straight to start the season.
Caroline, a transfer from Eastern Illinois, scored 23 on 6-for-9 shooting. King, a transfer from Brown, scored a season-best 12. Fenner, who has been a valuable sixth man for the Pack, scored a season-best 21 points on a career-best 5-for-6 from beyond the arc. Marcus Marshall added 12 and Lindsey Drew chipped in 11. It was the second time Nevada has had five players reach double figures. Marshall has reached double figures in nine straight games.
The game was tied once briefly, and after that it was all Nevada. The Pack led for nearly 39 minutes of the contest.
Nevada used a 21-6 run over a span of approximately six minutes to build a 44-22 lead. Nevada, thanks to a 56.7 shooting percentage, its best first-half percentage of the season, led 46-26 at the half. The 26 points allowed tied a season best.
Fenner had 13 of his 21 in the opening 20 minutes.
Fenner’s 3-pointer made it 26-16, and then Drew hit a jump shot with 6:07 left to make it 28-16. Caroline followed with a free throw and King had a three-point play to make it 32-16. Bradley stopped the 9-0 run with four straight points to make it 32-20, but Nevada went on a 12-2 run to make it 44-22 with 1:05 left.
Fenner had seven in the second surge, King had a dunk and Drew scored.
Bradley never got closer than 19 the rest of the way.
