Robert E. Cowan

Robert (Bob) Eugene Cowan, 63, passed away on December 1, 2016, after a long illness. Bob was born on July 1, 1953, in Fallon, NV, to Robert E Cowan Sr. and Gloria F (Smith) Cowan.

Bob worked at the Reno Downtown Branch of the Washoe County Library for over 30 years, before retiring in 2003. The first half of this time he worked in the Circulation Dept., before finishing in the Periodical Dept. He was an

early champion to create a library computer bulletin board in the early 1990’s, giving users an online communication experience in the days before the internet.

Bob and his wife Catherine enjoyed Renaissance Fairs and online gaming and building a large group of friends around those activities.

Bob was preceded in death by his wife Catherine, both parents, and both his paternal and maternal grandparents.

He is survived by his sister Sandra (Jon) Ruatti of Green Bay WI; his brother William Cowan of Reno NV; sister Lisa (Don) Watson of Fallon NV, Sandra Talmant of Fernley NV; cousin Ken Cowan of Woodinville WA. He was also survived by many special nieces and cousins living throughout the country, and his dear friends Randy Putnam and Anne Hawkins.

A special thank you to Randy and Anne who have cared for Bob and Cathy over many years with friendship and caring. Bob and Cathy cherished your friendship and support.

Bob will be interned at Mt. View Cemetery in Reno NV with his wife Catherine. No memorial service has been scheduled.

Family and friends came together to celebrate his life in August of this year while Bob was still with us to enjoy it.
