Antsy McClain’s Christmas at the Trailer Park returning to Carson City Brewery Arts Center

The Brewery Arts Center is hosting an evening of music, theater and storytelling in a holiday performance on Friday, Dec. 9.

Christmas at the Trailer Park with Antsy McClain starts at 7:30 p.m. in the BAC’s Maizie Harris Jesse Black Box Theater.

McClain is bringing his unique blend of music and “humor with heart” to the stage, combining his original songs with a hilarious slide show, including his own life observations, social commentary and imaginary sponsors from his home town trailer park of Pine View Heights. As a master storyteller with the likes of PBS, NPR and TEDx talks under his belt, McClain includes humorous and serious songs in his shows.

Songs such as “One Less Trailer Here in Pine View Heights,” “My Baby Whistles when She Walks,” and “The Junk Drawer of Your Heart,” are humorous observations about love and loss, while his more serious songs, like “Field Trip,” “I’m Everyone,” or “Falling in Love in America,” are more akin to personal journal entries written in the act of living. McClain said he walks the tightrope walk between humor and heart, which makes him a true original.

In the last few years, McClain has been playing a lot of solo acoustic shows, but still plays with his band, The Trailer Park Troubadours. His style has been compared to that of John Prine, Kris Kristofferson and Guy Clark.

“Somewhere Past These Gravel Roads,” the performer’s newest album, is a collection of songs inspired by his roots in 1970s and 80s guitar rock. It chronicles a period of great change in McClain’s life and takes the listener on a journey that touches upon life’s darker edges but ends with the happiness of new-found love and the soul-stretching exuberance of self discovery.

Seating is limited. Tickets in advance are available for $40 and $35 for BAC members. At the door, the price goes up to $50 and $45 for BAC members.
