A wide variety of art, from drawings and paintings to photos and mixed media pieces, by nine students from Sierra Nevada College in Incline Village is the center of a new exhibit in Carson City.

The Capital City Arts Initiative’s free exhibition, ART from SNC, can be seen through Jan. 30 at the Community Development Building.

It includes photography, paintings, drawings, printmaking and mixed media pieces that highlight the diversity of the students’ creativity.

The participating student artists include painters Collyn Aubrey, Bryce Betterley, and Garrett Effa; printmakers Piera Bernhard and Miranda McFarland; Lily Luna Bennett, whose “Morning Glory” is a large ink on paper drawing; photographer Meiasha Gray; and mixed media artists Vanessa O’Neill and Ian Wieczorek.

The show is the third in CCAI’s 2016-2017 series of student exhibitions in the lobby at the Community Development Building.

“We are delighted to bring the Sierra Nevada College artists’ creative work to Carson City,” said CCAI Executive Director Sharon Rosse. “We appreciate the SNC Art Department’s collaboration to make this show happen.”

CCAI will present a group exhibition by Western Nevada College in February, and another group show of high school students’ work in the spring.

The Community Development Building, formerly the Business Resource Innovation Center, is at 108 E. Proctor St. It’s open to the public from 8 a.m. to noon and 1-4 p.m. weekdays.
