Senator Nye returned here yesterday from San Francisco. Although worn and fatigued by a very tedious trip over the mountains by the Dutch Flat route, he looks, and is, in excellent health.

Heard from: It was rumored yesterday that the Washoe Minstrel Troupe is wandering about in the Humboldt desert in a half-starved and demented condition. A relief party ought to be sent out at once and bring the poor fellows in before the cold winter sets in.

Skating is a fine sport these moonlight nights and the ice pond at Blackwell’s ranch is thronged nightly with merry parties enjoying this sport. The young and the old, married and single, all seem to have caught the fever. It is the fad in Carson now.

County Assessor Len C. Hancock reminded Carson City residents today that 1947 car licenses will go on sale Monday. Motorists have until Jan. 31 to purchase their one plate and after that time will be assessed an additional $3 for being delinquent.
