Update: NHP identifies driver of highway 50 fatal crash

A vehicle crash involving a cow on U.S. Highway 50 killed a Fallon man Thursday night near mile marker 90 in Churchill County.

The driver has been identified as Eusebio Gonzalez, 66.

The Nevada Highway Patrol stated in a media release Friday afternoon that the driver of a 2001 Dodge Ram 3500 was pulling a trailer when he struck a cow in the westbound travel lane. The Dodge traveled off the north roadway edge and overturned. The NHP also said the trailer separated from the truck.

According to the NHP, the driver was not wearing a seat belt. He was pronounced deceased at the scene.

This crash is still under investigation. The NHP reports it is unknown if alcohol or controlled substances are a factor in the crash.
