An evening of good time music is on tap for Feb. 20 when the musical collective Banda Magda rolls into town.

The band has played at a variety of venues around the country from Carnegie Hall’s Musical Explorer Series, New York’s Webster Hall and Irving Plaza, to the Kennedy Center, Joe’s Pub, Celebrate Brooklyn, the St. Moritz Festival du Jazz and the Chicago World Music Festival.

Shortly after their show here, they’ll be playing at the famous Olympia in Paris and are also on the bill for the World of Music, Arts and Dance (WOMAD) festival in the U.K. this summer. They’ve released two albums “Amor t’es La” (which NPR named world music album of the year) and “Yerakina.” A new album “Tigre” is in the works.

The band will also hold a free and open-to-the-public conversation on their diverse musical influences and styles at 3 p.m. on the day of their performance.

Tickets are $17 for CAC members, $20 for non-members and can be picked up at Jeff’s Copy Express on Maine Street or at ITT @ NAS Fallon. You can also call CAC at 775-423-1440.

And, don’t forget, CAC’s Rom-Com film series continues to night with a screening of the 1979 film “Manhattan” at the Art Center.

It was written and directed by Woody Allen and stars Allen, Diane Keaton, Mariel Hemingway and Meryl Streep. It received Academy Award nominations for Best Supporting Actress (Hemingway) and Screenplay. It was also nominated for a Golden Globe for Best Picture and received a Cesar (the French equivalent of an Oscar) for Best Picture.

Its portrait of a group of 1970s-era Manhattan residents is greatly enhanced by Allen’s use of black and white cinematography as well as the music of George Gershwin, as performed by Zubin Mehta and the New York Philharmonic.

Tickets are $7 for CAC members, $10 for non-members and can be purchased in the Center’s Art Bar beginning at 6 p.m. and the film will begin at 7 p.m.
