The Fenians. We understand there will be a very full turn out of the Fenian Brotherhood at the Lincoln celebration next Monday. The Irishmen who comprise that order in this state are a fine, stalwart body of men and will make a very handsome appearance if they turn out en masse.

130 years ago

Miss Perkins, in her breech of promise case with Lucky Baldwin, testified he paid her $20 for a single kiss. There is no doubt Mr. Baldwin has paid out a great many $20 for kisses, and had he spent the same amount of money in advertising the merits of his business and hedged on the rosy lips of the girls, his hotel would have been a household word wherever the English language is spoken.

100 years ago

Net drags in six. The Sheriff’s Office was rather lively last night, six arrests being made, all for drunkenness. Three of the half-dozen were white men who were released after being sobered up. The others were Indians, who had been quarreling among themselves and were well filled up with fire water. The buck still languishes in jail.

70 years ago

Miss Mildred Bray, superintendent of public instruction, returned to Carson City Wednesday night from Buffalo after attending an educational conference there. The trip both ways was made by plane.

50 years ago

Ormsby County and Carson City are expected to join during the next fiscal year in hiring a city council manager to handle administrative duties. The governments have provided $10,000 to $14,000 a year in salary.

30 years ago

After almost three years of work and four hours of testimony, city supervisors approved a downtown redevelopment plan Thursday. Close to 200 residents turned out for the redevelopment plan’s public hearing.
