February is Library Lovers Month and while it’s nice the library is recognized in this way, It is my way of thinking every month is Library Lovers Month.


Featured Artist-Kami Fielder

Kami’s painting will be on display through March. Join us on March 2 between 5-9 p.m for an artist’s reception.


Science Club

Participate in a family science program featuring an experiment and books on Feb. 26 from 2-4 p.m. The topic is Electricity & Technology.

Feb. 20 from 10 a.m.-noon — Improve your reading skills while reading stories to your children at this program featuring books and fun family activities. The theme is Kitchen Science. This program is for parents and children ages 0 through 3rd grade.


Writer’s Workshop

Are you a writer looking for a place to work with like-minded people? The Churchill County Library offers a Writer’s Workshop lead by Sara Dowling. The critique group is lead by Laurel Topken. Meetings are every Tuesday from 5-7 p.m. at the library. All writers on all levels are welcome to participate. The library has books available on the subject of writing and Sara is prepared with “story starters” should anyone need help beginning. Sara can be reached at waterfallprincess@gmail.com.


Storytime

Storytime is held each Wednesday and Thursday at 11 a.m. Join us for stories, songs, a craft, and valuable tips to help your child get ready to read. An Ocean Animal-themed special bilingual Story Time is happening on Feb. 18 at 11 a.m..


Lego Club

This popular program is Friday from 2-4 p.m. and is for all ages.


New and Noteworthy

The library has all the newest books as well as dvds and downloadable titles. Of note:

“The Dogist: Photographic Encounters with 1,000 Dogs” by Elias Weiss Friedman — The cutest bogs you ever saw!

“The Lemoncholy Life of Annie Aster” by Scott Wilbanks: Annie and Elsbeth’s search for an explanation to the hiccup in the universe linking their homes leads to an unsettling discovery-and potential disaster for both of them. Together they must solve the mystery of what connects them before one of them is convicted of a murder that has yet to happen…and yet somehow already did. A fun read.

“Dead Presidents: An American Adventure into the Strange Deaths and Surprising Afterlives of our Nation’s Leaders” by Brady Carlson — An entertaining and informative look at the death of some America’s leaders and how we remember them.
