The following cases were heard in the Tenth Judicial District Court.

Shelly Medicine-Eagle’s public defender requested modifications to a restraining order in Fallon at a status hearing during testimony regarding her probation status. The state strongly opposed any modifications to the order and none was made.

Cody W. Baltazar entered a plea of not guilty to the possession of a controlled substance more than 4 grams but less than 14 grams. The trial is set for August.

Augustine Joseph Kennedy pleaded guilty to one count of driving under the influence causing substantial bodily harm, a category B Felony. Sentencing is set for April.

Brendan Dwight Tomey pleaded guilty to one count of grand larceny of a firearm on Oct. 24, 2015. Sentencing is set for April.

William Stephen McHaney III pleaded guilty to one count of conspiracy to commit battery. On Sept. 23, 2015, McHaney and others drove a 15-year old girl to Grimes Point, where he encouraged two 17-year olds to “stomp on her head” while recording video. McHaney was sentenced to 364 days in Churchill County Jail and fined $2,000 before remanded into custody.

Michone Kaye Jackson pleaded guilty of allowing a child to be present during the sale of a controlled substance on Nov. 18, 2015. Jackson’s child was present during the sale of methamphetamine. Sentencing is set for April.

Denny T. Benka was sentenced to 19-48 months in prison after failing to stop on signal of a police officer on June 30, 2015.

Mandy Mae Bowman was sentenced to 12-32 months in Nevada State Prison and ordered to pay $1,300 restitution after being found guilty of attempted burglary on April 1, 2015. Bowman attempted to unlawfully enter the residence of Kurt Paholke with the intent to commit petit larceny. Bowman will be subjected to substance abuse evaluation programs while being forbidden to consume alcoholic beverages. Her sentence was suspended and was placed on five years probation.

Casey Louis White was sentenced to 19-48 months in Nevada State Prison after entering a guilty plea for being under the influence of methamphetamine on Oct. 20, 2015.

Luke Lockee Deitmeyer was sentenced to two concurrent terms of 24-60 months on two counts of possession of a stolen motor vehicle. Deitmeyer was found driving a stolen 2004 Ford F250 on Nov. 11, 2015 in Fallon. Deitmeyer asked for lenience in light of his 4- and 6-year old sons despite also being indicted by the state of Oregon with 30 counts of spending counterfeit currency.

Jose Luis Lucero-Peru was sentenced to 364 days in the Churchill County Jail after being found guilty of attempting to commit battery causing substantial bodily harm. Lucero-Peru engaged in a fistfight with Jesus Lugo Serna after harassing him outside of his residence in Fallon, and punched Serna, causing a fracture in the skull behind his eyes. Lucero-Peru also faces a $2,000 fine. He was placed on three years probation.

Taylor Renea Janiak was found in violation of the conditions of her probation. Her probation was revoked and Janiak was remanded into custody and given credit for 17 days served in the underlying sentence.

Alicia Margaret Parker’s probation was reinstated after pleading guilty to the possession of a controlled substance under the condition that Parker appear in drug court within two weeks by Feb. 17. Parker’s review hearing is set for Feb. 23.

Jolyn Lynch pleaded guilty to one count of possession of a controlled substance, methamphetamine, a category E felony. The charge carries a 12-48-month prison sentence and a fine of no more than $5,000. She also pleaded guilty to one count of assault with a deadly weapon, a category B felony. She had chased her stepfather with a knife. The charge carries a 12-72-month prison sentence and no more than a $5,000 fine. Sentencing is set for April.

Brian Edward Perry will have a status hearing next week. He is charged with one count of driving under the influence of intoxicating liquor or controlled or prohibited substance, third offense, a category B felony.

Mark Anthony Silva pleaded not guilty to one count of battery causing substantial bodily hard, a category C felony. A two-day trial is set for March. His current bail remains at $53,140.

Chad William Wells pleaded guilty to commit home invasion, a category C felony. The charge carries a 12-60-month prison sentence and a fine not to exceed $10,000.

Lapreal Madeline Brown pleaded guilty of offer, attempt or commission of unauthorized act relating to a controlled counterfeit substance at or near school, school bus stop, recreational facilities for minors or public park. On Oct. 28, 2015, she sold methamphetamine to a confidential informant within 1,000 feet of Pioneer Park.

Brown faces 12-72 months in prison and a fine not to exceed $20,000. Since the sale took place near a park, she is subjected to an enhancement that doubles both sentence and fine. Sentencing is set for April.
