Carson City resident John Barrette announced that he will run for Supervisor Ward 4. The former reporter says helping to drive a robust future for the city’s residents is his top priority. Supervisor Jim
Shirk, who announced he will seek re-election, currently holds the seat.
“As the state capital, our city needs to not only grow, but also to enhance its role in our state. My goal is to lure more businesses, upgrade technology and forge stronger infrastructure and services for residents,” Barrette said. “I envision a vibrant community with strong manufacturing, light industries and government employee opportunities as we build a great past into an even brighter future.”
Former Carson City Fire Chief Stacey Giomi will serve as campaign manager.
“John’s vision, experience, intelligence and passion for service are just what Carson City needs. He brings a wealth of experience and knowledge as a government observer to the table” Giomi said.
Barrette says his priorities include upgrading streets, enhancing cultural opportunities, from the arts to outdoor recreation, and spurring local growth via sound policies and practices.
John and his wife Jean have lived in Carson City for the past eight years.
The official filing period is March 7-18. The Nevada primary election is set for June 14. The general election will take place on Nov. 8.
