Man reportedly shoots self near Goni towers

Around 9 p.m., the Carson City Sheriff’s Office responded to reports of a man who accidentally shot himself Wednesday night.

The man was on Goni Road near the top of the radio transmission towers. The man stated he was in the higher elevation back country because he told dispatchers he was stuck in snow, officials said.

Units responded to the incident and the victim stated it was an accidental shooting, but that still was to be determined, officials said.

It wasn’t determined whether alcohol or drugs played a factor. The investigation was ongoing and the victim was being transported to a hospital, although his condition still was unknown.
