Fallon chapter bus to Nevada game

A rooters bus from Fallon to Reno on March 5 includes a stop at Tahoe Brewery in Fernley and the final home game of the University of Nevada against New Mexico.

The cost is $50 per person, which includes bus ride, beverages on the bus and a game ticket. (If you are a season ticket holder, the price is $30).

To reserve a seat call or text 775-232-9488. The bus leaves from the old Raley’s parking lot at 3:30 p.m. All proceeds go to the Nevada Alumni Association Fallon Chapter Scholarship Fund.

Stillwater Refuge tours

Stillwater Refuge tours begin Saturday and continue each month through March 5. The final two tours are Feb. 20 and March 5.

Learn all about the National Wildlife Refuge by joining a free guided tour. Transportation, snacks, outdoor fun and wildlife viewing are provided.

Artists Critique Workshop

The Artists’ Critique Workshop welcomes artists of all levels and media to join a monthly critique workshop held the first Wednesday of each month at 10 a.m. at the Churchill County Museum.

The goal is to provide encouragement to like-minded artists with constructive suggestions and support within a positive environment.

Al-anon meets every Sunday

Sunday Al-anon, a 12-step program, meets every week, 7:30-8:30 p.m. at 1490 Grimes St.

St. Patrick’s blood drive

St. Patrick’s Catholic Church Blood Drive hosted by the Knights of Columbus will be held on Feb. 27.

The Blood Drive starts at 9:30 a.m. to 1:45 p.m. in the Rose Room on 850 West 4th St. For appointments or information contact Pat at 775-423-2436. Walk-ins are welcome.

K of C corned beef & cabbage

Knights of Columbus Corned Beef and Cabbage Dinner is on March 12. Dinner will be held at 850 W. Fourth St. in the Saint Patrick’s Parish Hall starting with cocktails at 6 p.m. and dinner at 7 p.m. Cost is $12 per plate and tickets may be purchased from any Knight or at the door. Raffles and door prizes during the dinner.

Fallon Horseman’s Association

Fallon Horseman’s Association holds monthly meetings the first Thursday of each month at Pizza Factory, 2199 W. Williams Ave.

Anyone interested in our summer open horse shows and other events is welcome to come.

Grad Nite run

The 2016 Grad Nite Committee presents a St. Patrick’s Day Fun Run/Walk “Color Ye Irish 5K” on March 19 at Venturacci Park at 10 a.m.

You are welcome to run, walk, skip, dance or shuffle and wear your new Irish Colors with pride, During the race traditional colors of the Irish Flag will decorate you. The Amateur Radio of Churchill County invites all current Amateur Radio operators or anyone interested in Amateur Radio to join us

The A.R.C.C. is a general interest Amateur (HAM) Radio Club serving Fallon, Fernley and surrounding areas. We have our monthly business social breakfast meeting each month. A NET Every Sunday at 6 p.m.(1800) local time on repeater 146.97 with PL of 103.5 Hz.

The Blue Sky Thrift Store (formerly Fallon Humboldt Shredders) is located at 290 S. Maine St. Hours are Monday-Friday, 9 a.m.-5 p.m.; and Saturday, 10 a.m.-4 p.m.

Bagged clothing sales, $4 per plastic shopping bag full of clothing available on Saturdays.

Drop-offs are made at the store location. Proceeds help provide services to individuals with developmental disabilities and families in need through community voucher programs.

The Stuf ‘n Such Thrift Store, owned and operated by Banner Churchill Community Hospital Auxiliary, is open Tuesday-Saturday from 10 a.m.-3 p.m., 99 S. Nevada St. Donations are accepted Tuesday-Saturday from 10 a.m.-2 p.m.

St. Patrick’s bingo

St. Patrick Catholic Church invites the public to play bingo in its parish hall on the first and third Saturdays of each month.

Doors open at 5:30 p.m. and bingo games starting at 6:30 p.m. Monetary prizes will be awarded to bingo winners.

Refreshments may be purchased. Free popcorn and coffee will be available. Net proceeds will go toward the church’s building fund. Individuals must be 21 years of age or older to play bingo. For information call the parish office at 775-423-2846.

Writer’s Workshop

Are you a writer looking for a place to work with like-minded people?

The Churchill County Library is pleased to announce its Writer’s Workshop led by Sara Dowling.

Meetings are every Tuesday from 5-7 p.m. at the Annex for quiet work, or the library for a more conversational approach. All writers on all levels are welcome to participate.

Storytime

Join us for Storytime at the Churchill County Library each Wednesday and Thursday at 11 a.m. and includes stories, songs, and a craft.

The library has hundreds of books on a wide variety of subjects for your enjoyment either in the building or at home.

Studies have shown that books in the home are an important indicator of a child’s future success.

So join us for a fun-filled storytime and check out books to read at home.

Child support enforcement

Child support enforcement services are available through the Churchill County District Attorney’s office.

Contact the Churchill County DA, Child Support Division at 775-423-8423. The staff may be able to help establish parentage and help obtain a child support order to include medical support.

Rainbow Treasures Gift Shop

Rainbow Treasures Gift Shop is located inside the front lobby of Banner Churchill Community Hospital, 801 E. Williams Ave. Hours are 10 a.m.-4 p.m., Monday-Friday.

The Rainbow Treasures Gift Shop is owned and operated by Banner Churchill Community Hospital Auxiliary, which is a nonprofit organization. Newborn gifts, handbags, See’s candy, watches, jewelry, home decor items and more are available.

Abused and neglected children who are removed from their families often need to live outside of their communities, away from everything familiar.

In Nevada’s rural communities, many children, including teens and sibling groups, are in need of a safe and nurturing home.

Foster parents provide a temporary home so these children can heal and feel supported.

Foster parents can be single or married, male or female. They can be working, or a stay-at-home parent. They can also be retired with grown children.

JOIN training

JOIN has received federal funds that will allow us to pay for your instruction, class materials, and certification fees.
