Multiple crashes in Carson City claimed two lives this past weekend.
The Nevada Highway Patrol responded to a single-vehicle crash on I-580 between Arrowhead Drive and College Parkway Friday at 5:12 p.m. A 55-year-old Melanie Marnne-Lawson, from Reno, was traveling southbound in the fast lane when her car swerved into the left dirt shoulder. She steered the vehicle to the right, causing her to re-enter the highway from the fast lane into the slow lane where she hit a concrete wall, said NHP Trooper Duncan Dauber.
The woman was transported to Renown Regional Medical Center by the Carson City Fire Department, where she later died from her injuries.
The woman was wearing her seat belt at the time of the accident.

On Saturday morning, around 11 a.m., 86-year-old Lillian Joslin was crossing in the crosswalk when she was struck by a turning vehicle.
The Carson City Sheriff’s Office responded to the intersection of Carson Street and College Parkway.
The driver of the vehicle was in the left turn lane at the red light to turn south onto Carson Street and because he was focused on the light, did not see Joslin crossing the street when the light turned green, deputies said. The front corner of the driver’s van struck Joslin, and when deputies arrived, she was breathing but unresponsive.
Joslin was transported to Renown Regional Medical Center via CareFlight but later died at the hospital.
The driver was cited and deemed at fault for the crash.
