Happy New Year everyone

What a thrill — we have made it to a new year! I don’t take any time I have left on this planet for granted. Today, the sky is blue, the air is clean, and I am with the ones who I love. The new year is a traditional time for making resolutions and thanking people who have made a difference in your life.

At CAPS we have many folks who have made our mission possible, and their support not only keeps CAPS vital but also reaffirms our community’s commitment to a no-kill shelter.

With that in mind, the board of directors, staff, volunteers and, most of all, the dogs and cats in our care would like to extend our heartfelt gratitude to the following businesses for their generous donations to our shelter in 2015.

Fallon Auto Mall; Fallon Veterinary Clinic; Lahontan Valley Veterinary Clinic; Western Nevada Veterinary Services; Maggie’s Playhouse; Mutts, etc.; Flower Tree Nursery; 3-Dimension Shipping; Gemini, Inc.; Jeff’s Copy Express; Lahontan Valley News; Marshall’s Septic Care; Papa Murphy’s Pizza; Bruce’s Muffler; CC Communications; Fallon Nugget; Louie’s Home Center; Louie’s Dollar Plus; Mackedon Erquiage, PA; Billy Hand, handyman service, Need a Hand?; Beverage Market; C Bar R Feed and Fuel; CeCe’s Café; Christine Shuey, Soriano Hair Affair; Churchill County Indoor Pool; Churchill Vineyards; Dairy Queen; Doreen’s Desert Rose Florist; Fallon Window and Carpet Cleaning; Fitness for $10; His Inspirations; Holiday Inn Express; Integrity Pest Management; J&K Llamas Nursery; Oasis Bowl; Pizza Barn; RCM Hay and Feed; Tedford Tire and Auto Service; and Walmart.

We also thank the numerous individuals who gave their time, money and talent to help us with our annual Bark in the Park and Murder Mystery Dinner. Your donations and dedication are invaluable and appreciated.

It seems that recently all the news is bad news, but to put that in perspective you can review the businesses here in Fallon who have stepped up to the plate and supported our no-kill shelter. I love Fallon, the small town with a big heart. May all your dreams come true in the new year.

WHO’S WHO

Our community is Who’s Who. We have so much to be proud of here in Fallon. Please review the list of donors and be sure to patronize their businesses. Live Local Fallon is a slogan, but let’s make it a reality by really living local. Fallon rocks!

WHO’S NEW AT THE CAPS’ ZOO?

All our puppies have found their happy-ever-after homes. However, we have six male and 18 female kitties ready for their new homes. Make this a new year to remember with a new pet to enjoy life with. Policy, however, prohibits adopting out puppies or kittens under the age of six months to a home with children under five years of age. This is to protect both the children and the animal.

CAPS’ NEWS AND EVENTS

The 2016 Happy Endings calendar may be purchased at the Flower Tree Nursery. Don’t delay because, at the time when I wrote this, only five were left.

Flower Tree Nursery is again raffling a 15-gallon tree. The drawing date is March 15, and the winner doesn’t have to be present to win. Raffle tickets are available at Flower Tree Nursery, and they are $1 for one ticket and $5 for six tickets.

CAPS will be at Walmart sometime soon, along with Ki and Urtle at our Kissin’ Booth. Be sure to watch this column for the date. Please come by and give our boys a big hug and kiss. We have hoodies, sweatshirts and caps, so please check them out before or after greeting our canine volunteers.

CAPS’ mailing address is P.O. Box 5128, Fallon, NV 89407. CAPS’ phone number is 775-423-7500. Please visit the CAPS website (www.capsnv.org) and Facebook page (Churchill Animal Protection Society). Be sure to “Like” CAPS on Facebook because we are really likable.
