Robert William Stewart, 76, passed away due to natural causes on January 3, 2016 in Carson City, Nevada. Mr. Stewart was born October 13, 1939 in Pepin, Wisconsin and moved to Nevada in 1963. In his youth, he loved flying air planes, driving jet boats, and owned race cars. He also enjoyed coaching Babe Ruth and playing softball. As time went on, he set down his glove and bat and moved to sponsoring softball. He was a strong supporter of the University of Nevada, Reno and contributed so much to the community he cherished. Mr. Stewart also owned and operated Pondarosa Plumbing; the original Bonanza Plumbing; Gale’s Bath Boutique; and was the primary owner of Stew’s restaurant, brewery and casino. He is survived by his wife, Yvonne; children, Michael (Julie), James (Annette), Nikki, and their mother Gale, Mark (Marzetta), Todd (April), Kelli, and Sherri; fifteen grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter, Kylee. He was preceded in death by his eldest son, Scott Stewart (1993). A celebration of life will be held on Sunday, January 10th at the Plaza Event Center from 1 to 5 pm. An opportunity to share stories will be available between 2 and 3 pm.
