Carson High’s boys basketball team looks to extend its league winning streak to six when it hosts the McQueen Lancers tonight at 7 at Morse Burley Gym.
Carson is 5-0 in crossover games, while the Lancers are 4-1 after an overtime win against Bishop Manogue on Tuesday.
“They (McQueen) are a well coached team,” Carson coach Carlos Mendeguia said. “They do a good job of switching up defenses to keep us off balance.”
The Lancers are led by 6-10 Octavion Corley, who played at North Valleys last year. Corley is averaging 16.6 points and 7.5 rebounds a contest. Tavian Cheatham-Dayton is at 11.5, while Orlando Easter is at 9.5.
The Senators have been led offensively all year by Asa Carter, Jayden DeJoseph and Tez Allen. All three have been consistent double-figure scorers. Carter has ben deadly with his mid-range jump shot, while Allen and DeJoseph have been tough to stop inside.
Carson’s girls team, 2-3 in league, also have a tough game (5:15 p.m. tip-off) against the Lancers, who are 4-1. The Lancers are coming off a 22-point loss against Bishop Manogue.
Ivy Pembrook has been the Senators’ top scorer lately. Bri Alvarado has been injured, and her status for today is unknown.
