Gas below $2.50 a gallon in Silver State

Nevada’s gasoline pump price swooned an additional 7.2 cents per gallon, a weekly survey showed on Monday.

The survey of 1,130 gasoline outlets in the Silver State revealed the price averaged $2.42 a gallon on Sunday, the day each week the GasBuddy.com report is completed for release on Monday.

Nationally, the gasoline price drop over the same week was 6.5 cents a gallon to $1.90.

Monday in Carson City, a GasBuddy.com check of pricing at 25 motor fuels outlets showed a range starting under $1.80 and escalating to just under $2.40 per gallon.

The lowest price was $1.79 at Gas & Save, 1360 S. Carson St., which undercuts the national average by more than a dime a gallon. The highest Carson City price was listed as $2.39 a gallon at Chevron, 4640 S. Carson St.

In Nevada, the average price on Sunday was 17.2 cents higher than on the same day a year ago and 6.5 cents lower than a month earlier, the motors fuels price monitoring website reported.

A GasBuddy.com analyst attributed the national easing of prices to the “continued and unprecedented plunge in the price of crude oil,” Patrick DeHaan, the analyst, predicted the national price would continue to plummet toward $1.70 a gallon.
