All sorts. If the boy who smashed the Appeal editorial window with a stone will call at the office, we will tell him where we can smash another window in the same way.

Dayton stage. The stage was capsized by the wind on the divide. The passengers and driver escaped injury. The horses were detached and brought to the stable and mail delivered to the post office by Henrichs’ dairy delivery rig. The roads between Silver City and Dayton are washed away first time in 30 years (Chronicle).

70 Years Ago

Virginia and Truckee comes into Carson with 14 cars. There were two cars of corn, one load of coal, one of pipe, two more of gasoline, four of fuel oil, one of cattle and one more of daily merchandise for Carson City. The front engine was manned by William Recker, engineer, and Lester Felesina, fireman, while on the helper or second juggernaut, Russell Grove was engineer, and John Olding was fireman. Frank Hern was conductor. There were six passengers.

50 Years Ago
