COURT NEWS

The following cases were heard in the Tenth Judicial District Court before Judge Tom Stockard.

Warren Lee Tawney pleaded not guilty to one count of assault with a deadly weapon on a person 60-years of age or older, a Category E Felony. The potential sentence is one to six years in the Nevada State Prison and not to exceed $5,000.

Trial is set for November.

Michael John Kandle was sentenced to 12-36 months in Nevada State Prison for one count of trafficking a controlled substance, methamphetamine, a Category B Felony. Kandle’s sentence was suspended for probation with the conditions of entering a rehabilitation program, no use/possession and an order to remain in Nevada in lieu of returning to California.

Kandle was given credit for four days time served.

Thomas Robert Worthy was sentenced to 16-48 months in the Nevada State Prison for possession of a controlled substance, a Category E Felony. Worthy’s sentence was suspended for a probationary period not to exceed five years with the conditions of entering a rehabilitation program and no use/possession.

Worthy was given credit for 25 days time served.

Miguel Angel Tapia pleaded guilty to one count of unlawful use or being under the influence of a controlled substance, a Category E Felony. The potential sentence is one to four years in Nevada State Prison and a fine up to $5,000.

Sentencing is set for July.

Gregory Patrick Halton pleaded guilty to one count of unlawful use or being under the influence of a controlled substance, methamphetamine, a Category E Felony. Halton was placed on probation not to exceed three years with the conditions of entering a mental health program, no use/possession and remaining in custody of the Churchill County Sheriff’s Office until the next day when the period should begin.

Anthony James Reinhart pleaded guilty to one county of possession of a controlled substance, methamphetamine. Reinhart was remanded into custody pending potential probation.

Sentencing is set for September.

Dillon Marsh’s probation was reinstated after violation with the conditions of completing the Salvation Army program in which he will be employed. He was remanded into custody until his bed-date with the program.

Dionisio Tabinas Gocong was sentenced to 334 days in the Churchill County Jail for conspiracy to commit abuse and/or neglect of a child, a Category B Felony. Gocong’s sentence was suspended for a probationary period not to exceed three years with the conditions of six months’ house arrest, a mental health evaluation and a no-contact order with the victim.

Gocong was fined $2,000 as part of his conviction despite a plea not to be fined due to current financial circumstances.
