Carson City Natives & Newcomers to meet July 14 at Black Bear Diner

Carson City Natives & Newcomers is meeting to talk about its service projects at 11:30 a.m. Thursday, July 14 at the Black Bear Diner inside Max’s Casino.

The group will talk about the delivery of Fourth of July cards and flags to the Carson Nursing Rehabilitation Center on July 2. Members are welcome to bring donations for Austin’s House and children in transition. The group also will discuss its upcoming root beer float sale from noon to 3 p.m. Saturday next to Raley’s in Carson City.

The organization, which meets on the second Thursday of the month, is in need of members. It presents scholarships to local students and donates to local groups such as Meals on Wheels and Kids & Horses. It also sponsors families at Christmas and collects items for children in transition and sends Braille playing cards throughout the United States and other countries.
