Services for Marilee Swirczek, former Western Nevada College professor for 24 years, will take place at 9 a.m. Saturday at St. Teresa of Avila in Carson City.
Swirczek who’s accomplishments include being elected to the Carson City Board of Supervisors, founder of the Lone Mountain Writers and instrumental in the creation of “Always Lost: A Meditation on War.” She received the Daughters of American Revolution Medal of Honor in 2010 for her patriotism and work with “Always Lost.”
Swirczek, 68, died Sunday. Swirczek is survived by her parents, Alice and Tom Tyson; sister, Toni Spaulding; husband Ron; three children; two stepchildren and nine grandchildren.
