Carson City’s nonprofit computer organization Computer Corps, a nonprofit that aims to make every home a classroom, is offering its third and final Summer Tech Camp 2K16 for students 10 to 15.
Classes and workshops will be held at the Corps offices on 480 Mallory Way next to the Nevada Appeal.
Students will learn and enjoy experiencing computer recycling and will build a Windows computer to take home or give to someone who needs a computer. Computers include monitor, keyboard, mouse, sound card, speakers,CDRW, Internet cable, Microsoft Windows 10, Open Office and games and learning software.
Classes will be held 1:30-4:30 p.m. Aug. 1-12. Class size is limited to 14 students. Registration fee is $350 and includes the computer system. Call the Corps at 775-883-2323 to sign up. Volunteers also are needed to help teach.
Computer Corps also is offering in its showroom Windows 7 lap tops and desktops for $95. Specs include Core 2 CPU processor, 2 GB memory, 80+ GB hard drive, DVD drive, keyboard and mouse, wired and wireless network ready, Open Office Productivity software, anti-virus, Flash and Acrobat Reader. All eligible for free upgrade to windows 10.
The Corps sales room is open from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. weekdays and 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturdays. A large inventory of computers, monitors and computer connectors is on hand.
