A gas line at 3rd and Curry streets was cut Friday morning by landscapers driving a tree stake into the ground.

The Carson City Fire Department responded to a call from Q&D Construction Inc. workers who were there putting the finishing touches on the Bob McFadden Plaza before it opens Saturday.

The fire department clamped off the line and Southwest Gas came in repaired it, according to Danny Rotter, Carson City engineering manager.

The line runs to the St. Charles Hotel and Firkin & Fox.

A day-long grand opening of the plaza is Saturday starting at 9 a.m. with a pancake breakfast.

A ribbon cutting ceremony with Mayor Bob Crowell and members of the McFadden family is scheduled at 10 a.m.
